The summer of 1383, and Faerun is about to be blown sky-high.
Across the barren, beast-infested savannah of the Shaar, one mortal will rise higher than any hero before.
Don the Mask. Raise the Sword. Seize the Crown.

"It feels...different, doesn’t it?
Old friends no longer seem your true equals: the bounds of this world no longer seem so great as once they did. You will find yourself torn from the ones you love. They will wither and die. You will only know how to grow ever stronger.
The Second Crusade has changed things. Gods and mortals have recalled that the lines separating them can be broken.
Prepare yourself. A dark tide is sweeping through the planes. Its target is Faerun, and an upheaval even my sight cannot penetrate.
Death holds no answers. You, Knight Captain, know that better than most."

Jon- These are actually old shots, from the first chapter of the game; enjoy.
So Crown of the Immortals is a follow-up to Mask of the Betrayer?
Yes: CotI takes place over a decade after the events of Mask of the Betrayer. Basically this gives us room to allow the player to have completed some of the 'events' of MotB's final cutscene, to allow gamers to fill in their own individual roleplaying details. It also allows us to entwine the Knight Captain's story with some of the 4th ed. happenings...
Will I see all of my favourite NPCs return?
There's been a lot of Vault discussion about having, well, every companion from both of the official games return. Some mods may want to attempt this, but we felt we'd rather focus on a few of the characters than have all dozen-plus as quite token figures. Plus then we can add in a few of our own...
Ladydesire is also creating a NWN2 adventure featuring the Knight Captain. Will these be compatible?
The KC belongs to everyone. While the two adventures will probably not be compatible (it wouldn't be much of a story if they were), we're definitely not claiming to be the definitive version. We haven't had a chance to speak with ladydesire yet, but we're going to be actively plugging her adventure, 'Secrets of Blue Fire', if she's happy for us to do so.
Where will the campaign be set?
The majority of the campaign will take place in the Shaar, an African-style savannah...and a land of dragons.
Will we visit old locations?
Yes. But not always as you think you know them...
Is CotI going to be a-saving-the-world sort of adventure, or more like MotB?
In CotI, without giving too much away, there will be severe conflict between your own safety and the safety of the Realms.
Custom content?
We're a very small group of modders; if we tried to get some new content in, the campaign probably wouldn't get out until 2012. But if you are a custom content maker, and feel like joining in the project, however briefly or in however small a form...we'd love to hear from you.
Ok, so...levels?
You will not level-up normally past Level 30; however, there will be various Godlike Levels, which can be achieved by making certain decisions and taking the campaign a certain way.
Will the beginning be able to replicate my KC's state at the end of MotB?
All (we think) but the most fiendish. There'll be a short introductory conversation where you'll be able to pick up MotB's romances or make yourself a lone betrayer, as you require.
Will we return to Kelemvor and the Wall of the Faithless?
It'd be a shame if the KC didn't return to battle amongst the gods, particularly in such a volatile time. That's all we're giving away.
Jon Turner, aka Darrow:
Principal designer and writer for CotI. I'm most looking forward to the Neverwhen sidequest (wait and see). Please contact me with any details.
Nick Thompson, aka Mooncalf
Nick's going to be our face on the forums. He's struggling with his own mod, Shadowfall, but helping out with some of the writing in the meantime. He lives in Wells. (We pity him.)
Andy is our reclusive area designer and Forgotten Realms knowledge-orian.
We're on the lookout for music designers/converters. And always, always for testers. Contact Darrow.
